Free wedding tools: when to send invitations, what to write, and your hashtag
How to use the three free Wedding Card Maker tools: the RSVP deadline calculator, the invitation wording generator and the wedding hashtag generator, with a video under a minute long.

Before a single invitation goes out, three small questions come up in almost every family. When should it be sent? What should it say? And what should everyone tag their photos with? Each one has a free tool on the site. They take about a minute, there is nothing to sign up for, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
Where to find them
Scroll to the bottom of the home page and choose Free tools, under Product. The page lists all three, each with its own Open the tool link. They work the same on a phone and on a laptop.
RSVP deadline calculator: when to send, remind and ask for replies
Enter the date of your first function, the earliest one guests are invited to, not necessarily the wedding itself. The calculator gives you three dates: when to send the invitations, when to remind the families who haven’t replied, and when to ask for replies by.
If your caterer or venue needs final numbers by a certain day, add it under Final numbers needed by. Replies are then due three days before it, when that comes sooner, so there is time to chase anyone who hasn’t answered. If guests are travelling to the wedding, switch on Guests are travelling to the wedding: replies are then due two months before the first function, and the invitations go out two months before that, so guests have time to book travel and take leave.
- Replies are due a month before the first function, or three days before your caterer’s date if that is sooner
- Invitations go out a month before the reply date
- The reminder goes a week before the reply date
- When guests travel, the month becomes two months
For a first function on 10 December 2027, that means sending by Monday, 11 October 2027, reminding on Wednesday, 3 November, and asking for replies by Wednesday, 10 November. Switch on travelling and it becomes Thursday, 12 August, Monday, 4 October and Monday, 11 October. These are rules of thumb, and the page says so. If the dates have already passed, it tells you to send the invitations as soon as you can instead.

Invitation wording generator
Choose your tradition, the function and the tone, then who is inviting: your parents or the two of you. Traditions include Hindu, Rajasthani, South Indian, Bengali, Sikh, Muslim and Christian, or Any tradition. The functions are the wedding, engagement, haldi, mehndi, sangeet and reception, and the tone can be formal, warm or fun.
Then add your names, and your parents’ names if they are inviting, with the date, time and venue. The wording updates as you type, with your tradition’s own wording first. Anything you leave blank shows in [brackets] so you can fill it in later. Each option has its own Copy button. The wording is in English.
Together with our families, we, Kavya and Arnav, are getting married. Come and bless us at the pheras on Sunday, 12 December 2027 at Rambagh Palace, Jaipur.
That is one of the warm Hindu options for a couple inviting guests themselves. Treat it as a starting point: change the name of a function, add a blessing line your family uses, and read it aloud once before you send it.

Wedding hashtag generator
Type both first names and the ideas appear straight away. Add the wedding year or a family name for more. Each one has a Copy button, and letters in Hindi or any other script are kept exactly as you type them.
- From the names alone: #KavyaWedsArnav, #KavyaAndArnav, #KavyaArnavKiShaadi, #KavyaArnavForever
- With the year: #KavyaWedsArnav2027, #KavyaArnav2027
- With a family name such as Sharma: #TheSharmaWedding, #HappilyEverSharma, #SharmaShaadi
Pick one that is short and easy to spell after one look, and search it on Instagram before you print it anywhere, in case other couples are already using it. Then put it on your invitation, so guests have it before the first function.

See every template with your names
Each tool ends with Put it on your invitation. In the wording and hashtag generators, once you have typed both names, its button reads See every template with your two names. The hashtag generator opens every template; the wording generator opens the ones for the tradition or function you chose, when there is a page for it. The page says whose names it is showing, and any template you open is drawn with them in place of the sample couple’s. The names stay in your browser for a day and never go into a link.
From there, Save my invite starts your invitation with those names already in. You can build and preview it for free; some templates are paid, and you only pay when you publish one of those.
