We begin with the Mother's blessings: an evening of bhajans before the darbar, aarti at eleven, then prasad for all.

Turmeric, marigolds and a great deal of laughter in the courtyard. Wear something you don't mind turning yellow.

Henna, folk songs and chai on the terrace as the evening comes in.

Both families take the stage, then the dance floor is open well past midnight.

The baraat sets off from the gate with the dhol and the ghodi. Bring your dancing shoes.

Jaimala at the gate, then the pheras around the sacred fire at the auspicious hour, followed by dinner.
